If only your pet could take control of your TV remote or start tapping away on your smartphone to keep up with all the pet news each week. For your pet’s sake, we’re launching a new weekly digest delivering you all the news your pet needs to know. We’ll keep this short, simple, and to the point. This is the Barkly Beat.
1.We’ll start with the superficial. Owning a pet can make you more attractive — particularly men with puppies were found to be 24% sexier. Don’t believe it? Just check out the Instagram account @hotdudeswithdogs.
2.There is a new food truck for dogs. The pet-centric food truck is traveling the country this spring. Equipped with a pop-up fenced play area, dog treats, and swag, this truck has everything for the hip pet owner who prefers food on wheels. Check out www.goodstuffpettruck.com to see if it’s making a stop near you.
3.Turning our attention to pawlitics, Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb) and Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) reintroduced the PAWS Act this Wednesday. If passed, the law will allow veterans diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to receive trained service dogs. Currently only veterans with physical disabilities can receive sponsored service dogs. We’re rooting for the Senators.

4. A small borough in Hamphsire, UK also made news this week when the borough’s city council decided to outlaw walking more than four dogs at a time. The primary reason for the ban according to a borough representative was to “stop people from leaving a mess in public places.” Well done to this city council!
That is your pet news for the week. Until next week!
